    I really loved this book. Loved staying on edge, so many twists. Loved how hard Reese and Kenzie fought their feelings for each other and they once they are together, how hard Reese tried to prove her innocence. He’s also so good with her son. Loved getting multiple points of view and loved their happy ever after. I highly recommend this book.-Christine Jalili

    Kat Martin has done it again! I absolutely loved The Perfect Murder the third book in her Maximum Security series. I could not out it down and I loved every page of this page turner. Kat Martin has once again proven that she is an incredible storyteller. I love how The Perfect Murder is told from the perspective of the main characters in the story, I love reading books where the story is told from different character’s viewpoints. I loved the characters in The Perfect Murder, I especially loved catching up with the other characters in the series. The Perfect Murder is the story of Reese Garrett, the CEO of Garrett Resources and his executive assistant, McKenzie “Kenzie” Haines, single mother to Griff. Reese is in the negotiations to purchase an oil refinery. While flying in a helicopter to the oil rig, it crashes shortly after takeoff, killing the pilot and another passenger. It was determined that the helicopter was sabotaged, and the FBI took over the murder investigation. Reese has asked his brothers, Chase and Brandon for assistance to found out what happened. As more questionable mishaps continue to happen with the refinery, Reese worries about the deal. Kenzie’s ex-husband, Lee was found murdered in his home and the gun used to kill him was registered to Kenzie, making her the prior suspect in his murder. While Reese and Kenzie investigate Lee’s murder and the mishaps around the refinery, as they spend more time together the closer, they become and begin a romantic relationship, even though they are each concerned about their employer-employee relationship. Kenzie and Reese spend together the closer the become and begin a romantic relationship. The Perfect Murder is filled with all the usual plot twists and surprises that I have come to love and expect in a Kat Martin story, and I was not disappointed at all. Kat Martin kept me guessing as to who was behind all the events surrounding the refinery and Lee Haines’s murder. Love that there was a couple of stories within the story. I loved every page of The Perfect Murder, and was so sad when I was finished reading it. I could not put it down. I love that Reese was able to prove Kenzie’s innocence with the help of Maximum Security and that she came to understand the things that Reese needed to do. I was so happy that Reese overcame the disappointment of his marriage, and opened his heart to Kenzie. I love the epilogue and how it gave the readers Reese and Kenzie’s happily ever after. The Perfect Murder felt like a family reunion, and I loved catching up with the characters from the other books in the series. I love how Kat Martin incorporated the name of the book into the story, it was my favorite part of the book. It was an incredible story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend this romantic thriller.-Patti Lucas

  • Technology That Can Detect Fires Before They Start

    Technology That Can Detect Fires Before They Start

    New research headed at the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies in Materials Science (IMDEA Materials) has shown progress on fire safety systems that can detect and warn of danger before a fire breaks out. This technology that can detect fires before they start is based on functional nanomaterial-based fire sensor technology under development at IMDEA Materials.

    Technology That Can Detect Fires Before They Start

    One of the researchers, Miss Xiaolu Li said that she hoped to take a step forward in the research work. She commented, “It is a very important element of this project. How so? Because with these new devices, now, we can be able to detect fire danger very early in the process, even before the fire breaks out,” she explained. “We know that once a fire starts, it can be very difficult to control.”

    Technology That Can Detect Fires Before They Start
    Miss Xiaolu Li

    “We know scientifically that most household materials start to burn at temperatures between 300 and 500 degrees Celsius. At the moment, we are carrying out our tests on material sensors at temperatures between 200 and 250 degrees Celsius. This is ideal because it means home owners can receive warning and still have enough time to possibly prevent the fire from happening in the first place.” She concluded.

    This new technology that can detect fires before they start has been tested and shown to work at temperatures as low as 250 degrees Celsius with a response time of less than a second. However, this technology is still under development according to the publication listed in Construction and Building Materials.

    This is a type of sensor that detects change in temperature by monitoring the chemical structure of the material being analyzed. As the said material begins to heat up, the conductive performance is also altered. This change in conductivity is a good flag to raise a warning of imminent fire risk.

    Technology That Can Detect Fires Before They Start

    The sensors detect temperature changes by monitoring the chemical structure of the material being analyzed. As the material heats, its conductive performance is altered. This change in conductivity can be used to generate a warning of an imminent fire risk.

    Conclusion

    Just as Li said “the goal of the ongoing work was to achieve sensor responsiveness from temperatures as low as possible in order to give further advanced warning.” This means that with this new tech, a lot of fire hazards can be avoided. Making living environment safer and protecting lives.

    Mushroom Skin Can Be A Base for Computer Chips – Scientists Say

    mushroom base computer chips

    Johannes Kepler University researchers discovered that the skin of a certain type of mushroom can be used as a biodegradable base for computer chips. They made this discovery and had it published in the journal Science Advances. When asked how? The group went ahead to describe how well it worked and most importantly, the disposability of the mushroom based chip when it is no longer useful.

    The Austria research team had focused their research efforts on finding a biodegradeable susbtrate of a chip. They were successful in finding a viable alternative which was Ganoderma lucidum, a type of mushroom that grows on dead hardwood trees. They noted that it grows a skin to cover its mycelium—its root-like part. Prior research has shown the skin protects the mushroom from other fungi and bacteria.

    Proceeding to make this mushroom base computer chips; the team removed some some of the mushroom skin from several samples, the researchers found that it was flexible, provided good insulation and was able to withstand high temperatures. They also discovered that when the mushroom based computer chip substrate was shielded from light and moisture, the skin would last a long time. Whereas, if exposed to conditions that made it absorbed light and moisture, it will quickly decompose. These properties were ideal for a very good chip substrate, a mushroom based computer chip.

    Using a physical vapour deposition technique, the research team was able to deposit metal electronic circuitry onto the skin samples, which was followed up with an ablated laser. When the resulting mushroom base computer chips were subjected to tests, the outstanding skin worked nearly as well as the traditional plastic substrates and could withstand being bent repeatedly—they found no breakage after 2,000 bends. This result proved useful in making battery components. And much work is still need to ensure the skin meets up with industrial based standards as well as finding a a cleaning process of removing the skin from the chips for disposal.

    Conclusion

    The mushroom base computer chips could be a game changer in the world of electronics like we know it today. let us know your thoughts on this. Do you think is important and may be useful?

    IOT REMOTE MONITORING OF THE VOLTAGE USING BLYNK

    In this project, we will measure the direct current (DC) voltage in our power supply using the software and hardware serial connections with the ESP8266-01 and Arduino, as well as monitor it on the Blynk IoT platform. This project is primarily known as “IoT Remote Monitoring Using Blynk.”
    The following materials are used in this project:

    • Arduino Unno
    • ESP8266-01
    • Blynk Application.
    • Voltage Sensors
    • Power Supply(3.3v, 5v, 12v and 23v)

    You can buy the complete kit of this tutorial on our online store. If any of the components or kits is not complete, you can chat us and request for it.

    What is ESP8266-01?

    Arduino with ESP8266-01
    ESP-01 module and pinout

    The ESP8266-01 (ESP-01) is a Wi-Fi module that allows microcontrollers access to a Wi-Fi network. This ESP8266-01 helped in the IoT monitoring of our project. It has 8 pins, which consist of RXD, TXD, GND, VCC, RST, GPIO0, GPIO1, and EN, respectively. In which RXD – is the Receiver, TXD – is the Transmitter. The maximum voltage expected for the ESP8266-01 is 3.3V.

    HOW TO CONNECT ESP8266-01 TO ARDUINO UNO.

    Arduino with ESP8266-01

    There are different connections when connecting the Arduino with the ESP8266-01, These are:

    • Hardware Serial Connection
    • Software Serial Connection

    Hardware Serial Connection

    Arduino with ESP8266-01 hardware serial connection

    As stated above, on the ESP8266-01 which has 8 pins, The Vcc and EN of ESP-01 is connected to Arduino’s  3.3V. And the RX and TX can be connected using either Hardware Serial connection or Software Serial Connection. And the ESP-01 GND which is connected to the GND of the Arduino. This is a vital step in our IoT remote monitoring project.

    How to Measure Power Supply voltage with Arduino

    HOW TO CONNECT POWER SUPPLY WITH VOLTAGE SENSOR WITH ARDUINO AND ESP8266-01.

    Arduino connected to the voltage sensor module
    Arduino connected to the voltage sensor module

    We can measure the voltage on Our DC Power Supply (3V, 5V, 9V and 12V) using the Voltage Sensor with Arduino Uno and ESP8266-01. The power supply Positive and Negative terminal is connected to the Output of the Voltage Sensor.

    The Arduino Sketch

    float PVr1 = 30000.0;
    float PVr2 = 7500.0;
    float batteryVoltSensor, vinBattery;
    const int voltagePinBattery = A0;

    void setup() {
      Serial.begin(9600);
    }

    void loop(){

      //now doing calculations
      batteryVoltSensor = analogRead(voltagePinBattery);
     batteryVoltSensor = (batteryVoltSensor * 5.0)/1023.0;
     vinBattery = batteryVoltSensor/(PVr2/(PVr1+PVr2));

    Serial.print("Dc Measured Voltage : ");
    Serial.println(vinBattery);
     delay(1000);
    }
    float PVr1 = 30000.0;
    float PVr2 = 7500.0;
    float batteryVoltSensor, vinBattery;
    const int voltagePinBattery = A1;

    void setup() {
      Serial.begin(9600);
    }

    void loop(){

      //now doing calculations
      batteryVoltSensor = analogRead(voltagePinBattery);
     batteryVoltSensor = (batteryVoltSensor * 5.0)/1023.0;
     vinBattery = batteryVoltSensor/(PVr2/(PVr1+PVr2));

    Serial.print("Voltage : ");
    Serial.println(vinBattery);
     delay(1000);
    }

    The reading of the voltage measure can be shown on the Serial Monitor of the Arduino IDE.

    serial monitor print of voltage measured
    serial monitor print of voltage measured

    Then the 3 pins on the Voltage Sensors are connected to the  5V(VCC), GND and an Analog pin 1 (A1) of the Arduino respectively while the ESP8266-01 pins are expected to have a common ground in the Arduino, the Vcc is connected to 3.3V of the Arduino and the RX and TX pins are connected either via Hardware serial connection or Software serial connection.

    As stated above, on the ESP8266-01 which has 8 pins, The Vcc and EN of ESP-01 is connected to Arduino’s  3.3V. And the RX and TX can be connected using either Hardware Serial connection or Software Serial Connection. And the ESP-01 GND which is connected to the GND of the Arduino.

    The Arduino Sketch

    float PVr1 = 30000.0;
    float PVr2 = 7500.0;
    float batteryVoltSensor, vinBattery;
    const int voltagePinBattery = A0;

    void setup() {
      Serial.begin(9600);
    }

    void loop(){

      //now doing calculations
      batteryVoltSensor = analogRead(voltagePinBattery);
     batteryVoltSensor = (batteryVoltSensor * 5.0)/1023.0;
     vinBattery = batteryVoltSensor/(PVr2/(PVr1+PVr2));

    Serial.print("Dc Measured Voltage : ");
    Serial.println(vinBattery);
     delay(1000);
    }
    float PVr1 = 30000.0;
    float PVr2 = 7500.0;
    float batteryVoltSensor, vinBattery;
    const int voltagePinBattery = A1;

    void setup() {
      Serial.begin(9600);
    }

    void loop(){

      //now doing calculations
      batteryVoltSensor = analogRead(voltagePinBattery);
     batteryVoltSensor = (batteryVoltSensor * 5.0)/1023.0;
     vinBattery = batteryVoltSensor/(PVr2/(PVr1+PVr2));

    Serial.print("Voltage : ");
    Serial.println(vinBattery);
     delay(1000);
    }

    IOT MEASURING/MONITORING OF THE POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE

    In this phase of the project, we will be using the Blynk application.

    What is Blynk Application?

    Blynk is an IoT platform for iOS or Android smartphones that is used to control Arduino, Raspberry Pi and NodeMCU via the Internet. This application is used to create a graphical interface or human machine interface (HMI) by compiling and providing the appropriate address on the available widgets. We used the Blynk 2.0 version here.

    Love is a tender fruit to be savored before it rots.
    Raff’s life was simple, superficial, and safe.
    He knew his place in the world, his relation to those around him. He reveled in it.
    He was on a straight track until he followed a young woman into the far corner of the local diner.
    Can Raff keep his head through the relentless onslaught of raw emotion this action brings?

    We all have known a guy like Raff in our lives, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen this side of that person. B.B. Calais does a wonderful job of telling the soft side of a womanizing man, and makes you root for him the entire time. Though one part of this book did my me cry, (Alice) I highly recommend that you dive straight into this book the first chance you get. Probably the best work I’ve read all year. I’m glad I stumbled across this one. And I’m sure all you readers will think the same thing after you’ve read it as well.-Clinton Bell
