Layton’s Botany Bay series has finally ended with this title – thank goodness. Layton’s a talented writer, but should have stopped this series after the first book. Instead, she kept going and has almost lost me as a reader. Hopefully she can regroup now and start writing stories like her earlier ones. The heroine of “How to Seduce a Bride” is extremely annoying. I disliked her on the first few pages but kept going in hopes of finding more about her to appreciate. No such luck. She remains childish, annoying, and unlikeable throughout the book. I really do hope Layton can return to form as an excellent Regency romance writer. As it stands now, she’s become just average.-Kdramakid

I couldn’t put this down. I stayed up too late because I had to finish. I was hooked from the start. The pacing was nice and there was a good balance of ups and downs. It has a lot of R and X rates content but somehow its not gratuitous or porny. Every bit of it had a reason behind it and meant something and lead somewhere. For those reasons this didn’t bother me. (I normally prefer more PG content.) The characters were well developed and likable. I loved Stella and related to her in many ways. It was enjoyable watching her unlock and Michael being that key. I definitely recommend this as a must read. It has some heavy themes but they’re handled beautifully and it doesn’t go too in depth. The book for the most part manages to be light hearted and sweet. Also, Michael is basically a look alike for Daniel Henney soooo yum! (Good choice Helen!) I really like this author’s style of writing and will be reading everything by her.-TechieArtMam

Loved this book. It’s definitely a ‘slice of life’, character driven novel (vs plot-driven) but the writing keeps the reader engaged and there’s enough spice and other romantic ‘payoff’ to keep the pace feeling tight versus wandering. The writing is snappy, direct and clever. Also, have to say I REALLY appreciated the male MC did not have toxic traits as so many romance/womens lit novels normalize and romanticize. I appreciated that he struggled over his worry that he’d be like his criminal/deadbeat dad but the very fact he worried about it meant he wasn’t like him and had integrity and honor. Loved the heartwarming growth depicted by Stella, our female protagonist. Also liked that MOST of the book was about them and didnt include tons of scenes with side characters like mom, cousins, etc etc. Romance is really about the journey and growth of the two in the relationship, not the four other sub-plots that wander and never even wrap up (looking at you, Sylvia Day…) All in all this was a great little cozy read. Don’t expect suspense, thriller, tons of spice, or plot-driven book here. This is about Stella’s journey and it was wonderful to witness. I ALWAYS appreciate a patient, loving and tender male MC that retains plenty of masculine energy.-K.A. Thompson

Vision in White By Nora Roberts PDF Summary Review Book

    Vision in White

Vision in White after years of throwing make-believe weddings in the backyard, flowers, photography, desserts, and details are what these women do best: a guaranteed perfect, beautiful day full of memories to last the rest of your life.

With bridal magazine covers to her credit, Mackensie “Mac” Elliot is most at home behind the camera—ready to capture the happy moments she never experienced while growing up. Her father replaced his first family with a second, and now her mother, moving on to yet another man, begs Mac for attention and money. Mac’s foundation is jostled again moments before an important wedding planning meeting when she bumps into the bride-to-be’s brother…an encounter that has them both seeing stars.

Carter Maguire is definitely not her type: he’s stable, and he’s safe. He’s even an English teacher at their high school alma mater. There’s something about him that makes Mac think a casual fling is just what she needs to take her mind off dealing with bridezillas and screening her mother’s phone calls. But a casual fling can turn into something more when you least expect it. And with the help of her three best friends—and business partners—Mac must learn how to make her own happy memories.

First, I LOVE the imagery!! The words paint a picture of so much besides the people. I can see the four little girls and the blue butterfly. The love, the joy, the pain, the hope and the wonder.
Nora creates a World of emotions, both whirlwind and peace filled, with all the nuances in between. I have read and reread her very satisfying stories, like a wonderful meal followed by a superb dessert!! I am sated and smiling! Thank you Nora!!-Kindle Customer

I admit it, I’m a Nora Roberts groupie. She has such skill. I especially love the construction of the dialogue in this book. Completely natural. Flows. Entertains. So beautifully done.-Aries Cat

Really lovely and positive book. The main character is lovely rather than the horrible bitchy woman trope I keep finding in romance novels. Just nice light book to make you feel good. Very hallmark.-Holly

I must admit that I was a bit of a skeptic when I clicked the “purchase” button, but was pleasantly surprised. This book is more of a guide to dating from a women’s perspective, which was very well written and put together. It is a quick read, which is good for me. I can’t say that I agreed with everything the author said, but I agreed with most of it. I would recommend it to guys and for ladies to buy it for your brother, cousin, or even significant other.-Teddy

She provides a relationship perspective that’s a little different. I like it because a lot of her tips are useful. However I do feel as though men there’s a thin line between taking her advice and looking needy. A very thin line.-joshua

  • Delta Of Venus By Anais Nin PDF Summary Review Book

Delta Of Venus By Anais Nin PDF Summary Review Book

    Delta Of Venus

In Delta of Venus Anaïs Nin penned a lush, magical world where the characters of her imagination possess the most universal of desires and exceptional of talents. Among these provocative stories, a Hungarian adventurer seduces wealthy women then vanishes with their money; a veiled woman selects strangers from a chic restaurant for private trysts; and a Parisian hatmaker named Mathilde leaves her husband for the opium dens of Peru. Delta of Venus is an extraordinarily rich and exotic collection from the master of erotic writing.

Part of the Quality Paperback Book Club series with limited-edition art cover. Cover art painted by Monica Elias.

Delta Of Venus PDF Book Review

    Top Reviews (Amazon)

Writing is authors art,and she hopes to be published and make it big someday. She does eventually enjoy great success and acclaim as an author and goes on to teach at the college level. . But in the beginning, she earns some quick cash per page for what is supposed to be hard core porn for a wealthy private collector. She suspects, and I think correctly, that the anonymous customer is actually the publisher himself, that he is not simply the middlemen at all, but the actual collector. He is lusting for porn written by a woman, from a woman’s point of view, and he wants her to keep it short and to the point and “without the poetry”. He stresses over and over he wants porn written by a woman but WITHOUT THE POETRY. So she used various other authors X and R rated writings for inspiration and for subject matter, and eventually compiles enough short stories to fill this book. Are you curious by now? Well I’m not going to do a spoiler here, I have said enough. I recommend you read the book :)-R. Huntington

Delta of Venus joyously explores the art of human sexuality. Anais Nin’s writing style is at once lyrical and straightforward. While she leaves no doubt in the reader’s mind just what is going on, her countless love scenes are imbued with so much warmth and dignity that one could scarcely find them offensive. But most importantly, Anais understood that sex is nothing without emotion, and it’s the emotions of her myriad characters that cause the reader to turn happily florid with every page. She understood that while sex is not to be taken lightly, it’s certainly not something to be restrained, either. Lastly, of all the locales depicted in this collection of stories, she lends a special affection to Paris. I suspect that of all of Anais’ lovers, the City of Light was the dearest to her heart, to wit: “At five I always felt shivers of sensuality, shared with the sensual Paris. As soon as the light faded, it seemed to me that every woman I saw was running to meet her lover, that every man was running to meet his mistress.” and “But we were enjoying an orgasm, as couples do in doorways and under bridges at night all over Paris.”-Lance C. Panzer

This is not a book for everyone, there are some very taboo subjects within the pages (paperclips to bind those pages together make it easy to skip over those stories without ruining the rest of the book). Other than those few spots, the book is beautifully written and far wins out over the uncreative drivel found in most book stores and online, touching on the topics in these pages written so long ago.-Sarah Dean

    Searching for Bristol

Searching for Bristol getting lost in the woods isn’t on Bristol Wingham’s agenda. Neither is being abandoned by her friends or getting injured. Luckily for her, she’s found by one of Fallport’s search and rescue members. She hadn’t planned on staying in the small town, but when her rescuer offers her a place to recuperate…she can’t resist. Cohen “Rocky” Watson has rescued his fair share of lost hikers, but there’s something about Bristol that makes him sit up and take notice. The world-renowned artist could definitely afford to go back home to Tennessee and pay someone to look after her until her broken leg heals, but the more time he spends around her, the more he wants her to stay. Slowly but surely, as Bristol heals, the former Navy SEAL and the artist find themselves falling in love. But someone is less than happy with the budding relationship. When Bristol disappears, it’ll take Rocky, his entire team, and every colorful, gossip-loving Fallport local to find her—and the clock is ticking.

Bristol is my new favorite heroine. She may be pint-sized but she is stronger than most. She is left in the woods by someone who she thought was a friend. She decided to continue on the trail to the camping area by herself but got off the trail ant then fell over a small cliff. Spending three days waiting for help and none came she decides she has to save herself and because of broken leg she has to drag herself back to the trail. Rocky finds her and get her back to town and to the doctor. He stays with her while she is in the hospital after surgery and then offers her a place to stay while she recuperates. They start falling for each other and she starts making plans to move to Fallport. She has a stalker that she doesn’t yet know about until he finally kidnaps her. She knows that Rocky and his team will never give up looking for her so she has to just stay strong long enough. Does her kidnapper hurt her even though he tells her he loves her? How long does the whole town keep searching for her and what finally gives them the information they need to figure out who took her and where she is?-TeresaC3

When Bristol chooses not to participate in a sexual encounter with friends while on a hike in the forest surrounding Fallport, she separates herself and ultimately suffers a fall. She perseveres and even though she has a broken leg, she makes every attempt to save herself. Rocky is informed that Bristol’s friends appear to have abandoned her. Without notifying anyone else on his search and rescue team he sets out to locate her. He finds her trying to crawl to safety. He physically carried her to the trailhead where an ambulance meets them for a trip to the hospital. An unexpected romance starts to emerge and they are happily exploring their feelings. An unsavory man from her hometown appears and Bristol disappears. Everyone in town, law enforcement and his search and rescue team look for her for 2 weeks. Rocky is a broken man. Read this beautifully written love story. It provides all the feels. Another fantastic book by Susan Stoker.-C. Fontanesi

I love Susan Stoker and have all of her books. I got hooked in 2019 and haven’t stopped. This book is great as always and a great change of pace from other the military books she’s released. Not that it doesn’t have a minor military background but it’s nice to read about men who’ve retired and working in a different field. Bristol has to be in the top 10 of my favorite Susan Stoker heroines. I do highly recommend reading the last 2 books in this particular series to get a sense of background but certainly isn’t necessary to read. Just for context of some things mentioned in the book. 5/5 – definitely recommend!-Cheyenne J

    See Me

Colin Hancock is giving his second chance his best shot. At 28, he’s focused only on walking a straight line – getting his teaching degree, working out at the gym religiously, and avoiding all the places and people that proved so destructive in his earlier life. The last thing he’s looking for is a serious relationship. But when Maria Sanchez crosses paths with him on a rainswept night in North Carolina, his plans are upended in a way that will rattle the foundations of his carefully structured life. As for Maria, the hardworking lawyer and daughter of Mexican immigrants, Colin will challenge every notion she’s ever had about herself and her future, making her question what truly makes her happy.

Before the couple has a chance to envision what a life together might look like, however, menacing reminders of events in Maria’s past begin to surface. And as the threat of violence begins to shadow her every step, she and Colin will be tested in increasingly terrifying ways. Will demons from their past destroy the tentative bonds they have forged, or will their love protect them, even in the darkest hour?

See Me is a story of obsession, reinvention, and a love that defies every expectation, reminding us that destiny often rests in our own hands – even in matters of the heart.

I guess this title for my review would describe many, many books. In this story, it seems to me these themes are quite separable, and surprisingly the romance comes first. I find, in my readings of Mr. Sparks, that he often does unusual things and satisfying connections between major parts of the writing are hard to find, or find satisfying to this reader. Still he writes well and often introduces interesting characters-Peter R. Nichols

Highly recommend! Very well written. Suspenseful and exciting! Believable characters that you want to learn about and root for. Great read!-Sharon J. Keys

OK, so I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did, tiktok hyped books can be a bit hit or miss IMHO. Ava’s brother is going away to work so asks his best friend Alex to keep an eye on her in his absence, cue some sould searching about whether them being more than friends is a good idea and some very steamy scenes 😉 I enjoyed the opposites attract/ stay away from my sister thing, but if you don’t enjoy the whole possessiveness thing, then maybe give this one a miss, because Alex is possessive to the MAX. There’s also a whole other storyline going on about Ava’s past and that was gripping and a real page turner, CW galore though.
I listened to the audio of this one and if you plan to do the same, maybe make sure you’re alone, because those steamy scenes are a lot to process ha.-Mrs Ellie B

3.5 stars. The romance is light, but there 🙂 I did enjoy the story, liked the suspense, loved the psychic element (though not Sam’s particular “gift”). Of course, I am a die-hard romantic, so I would have enjoyed more words dedicated to that, and I would have liked to have had a HEA and maybe an epilogue. Not sure if we see more of the previous characters in future books (will be reading more!). I would have also liked to have had a small POV of Sam’s stalker – to better understand his intentions and motivation. .-Deborah R.

I found myself sucked into this story and I cared about Sam very much, she was such a strong person and so brave. I enjoyed seeing the different relationships she made and seeing Brandt deal with his thoughts and feelings about and for her, all whilst trying to catch a killer and make sure that Sam stays alive.-Victoria

This book has all the ingredients of a hit movie. It has everything you could possibly want in a good story. The character of Sam broke my heart. She’s a woman in pain and I hurt for her, what she goes through is nothing short of horrific. To cope she stays on the fringes of society, never really involving herself and never making friends. She is lonely and afraid but it is a life that she is used to. At the same time she has a core of steel running through her and a strength that you can only admire, which of course Brandt does. He is a cop and a very alpha male but he is one of those unique individuals, especially as he is of the male species, that is open……open to others opinions, open to new ideas and open to things that most have a hard time believing. He finds himself drawn to Sam and feels very protective of her although their relationship doesn’t come easy as Sam is broken in some ways. The psychic element of this story is what drew me to this book and it didn’t disappoint, I felt everything that Sam did in her visions and the consequences that she had to endure because of them. This book is a thriller, a mystery, a crime novel and a love story all rolled into one. It kept me hooked.-Mel Sanders

Seven Days in June By Tia Williams PDF Summary Book

    seven days in june

Brooklynite Eva Mercy is a single mom and bestselling erotica writer, who is feeling pressed from all sides. Shane Hall is a reclusive, enigmatic, award-winning literary author who, to everyone’s surprise, shows up in New York.

When Shane and Eva meet unexpectedly at a literary event, sparks fly, raising not only their past buried traumas, but the eyebrows of New York’s Black literati. What no one knows is that twenty years earlier, teenage Eva and Shane spent one crazy, torrid week madly in love. They may be pretending that everything is fine now, but they can’t deny their chemistry – or the fact that they’ve been secretly writing to each other in their books ever since.

Over the next seven days in the middle of a steamy Brooklyn summer, Eva and Shane reconnect, but Eva’s not sure how she can trust the man who broke her heart, and she needs to get him out of New York so that her life can return to normal.

With its keen observations of Black life and the condition of modern motherhood, as well as the consequences of motherless-ness, Seven Days in June is by turns humorous, warm and deeply sensual.

I initially bought this book simply because I’m an author with a women’s fiction book coming out soon, and I wanted to read another women’s fiction book by a fellow UVA alum! At first, since the book is about an erotica author and contains pop references out the wazoo, I was tempted to write it off as trendy and trite. That said, this novel quickly drew me in, far exceeding my expectations, mainly because the characters totally drew me in. I’ll mention a few notables…-Christine Melanie Benso
