Special ops: Lioness

Zoe Saldana plays Joe, a CIA officer who leads a team of female Marines in covert operations against terrorists, in the new series “Special Ops: Lioness” on Paramount+. The show is created by Taylor Sheridan, who is known for his dark and violent dramas like “Yellowstone” and “Sicario”. The show aims to showcase the courage and skills of women in combat, as well as the challenges they face in a male-dominated field.

However, the show fails to deliver a compelling and original story, and instead relies on clichés and stereotypes. The show portrays Muslim women as either helpless victims or potential sources of information, without giving them any agency or personality. The show also ignores the historical and cultural context of the regions where the missions take place, and focuses only on the action and violence. The show does not explore the moral dilemmas or emotional consequences of the characters’ actions, and instead glorifies their machismo and patriotism. The show does not offer anything new or meaningful to the genre of female-led action shows, and instead comes across as a shallow and superficial attempt to cash in on the trend.
