Summary
Hell Bent: Discover a passage into the depths of the underworld. Retrieve a soul from the clutches of hell itself. The plan appears straightforward, yet those who embark on this perilous journey seldom return. Nonetheless, Galaxy “Alex” Stern is resolute in her determination to liberate Darlington from purgatory, even if it means forfeiting her prospects at Lethe and Yale.
Constrained from making a rescue attempt within the boundaries of the Ninth House, Alex and Dawes find themselves unable to seek aid from their usual allies. Instead, they gather a motley crew of questionable companions to orchestrate the salvation of the gentleman from Lethe. Together, they must navigate through a labyrinth of esoteric texts and peculiar relics, unveiling the most closely guarded enigmas of their societies. All the while, they defy conventions and break every rule in pursuit of their goal. However, as faculty members begin meeting untimely ends, Alex discerns that these are not mere accidents. A malevolent force is active in New Haven, and to endure, she must confront the demons of her past and the shadows entrenched within the very fabric of the university.
Immersed in history and enriched by Bardugo’s characteristic narrative turns, Hell Bent breathes life into an elaborate realm brimming with enchantment, brutality, and chillingly authentic monsters.
