All The Dangerous Things Book Review

All The Dangerous Things

Summary

All the dangerous things: A year ago, Isabelle Drake’s life underwent a permanent transformation: her young son, Mason, was taken from his crib during the night while she and her husband slept in the adjacent room. The police had scant leads and minimal evidence to pursue, resulting in the rapid cooling off of the case. However, Isabelle’s determination to be reunited with Mason remains unwavering, even to the point of sacrificing her own sleep.

Except for sporadic moments of rest or brief periods where time eludes her memory, Isabelle has been awake for an entire year.

Her existence has now become centered around the quest to find her son, but she acknowledges that she cannot persist in this manner indefinitely. In an attempt to shake loose fresh witnesses or concealed clues, she consents to an interview with a true-crime podcaster. However, the podcaster’s curiosity about Isabelle’s past leaves her feeling uneasy. Coupled with her extreme insomnia, his persistent questioning resurfaces uncomfortable memories from her own childhood. This combination of factors causes Isabelle to question her recollection of the night Mason disappeared and leads her to doubt the reliability of those around her, including herself. Nevertheless, her resolve to uncover the truth remains unshaken, regardless of where the path may take her.
