About The Author
Elizabeth McCracken is an American author who has published six novels and four memoirs. She is married to the novelist Edward Carey, with whom she has two children. She is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and an artist-in-residence at Skidmore College. She is known for her humorous and compassionate stories that often deal with loss, family, and identity. She won the Story Prize for her collection Thunderstruck & Other Stories and was a finalist for the National Book Award for her novel The Giant’s House. Her memoir An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination recounts her experience of losing her first child before birth. Her most recent novel, The Hero of This Book, was named one of the best books of 2022 by Time, People, Washington Post, and other publications.
