Table of Contents

Blameless is the third book in the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger, a comedy of manners set in Victorian London, full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking. The protagonist, Lady Alexia Maccon, is a preternatural who can nullify the powers of the supernatural with a touch. In this installment, she is pregnant with a mysterious child and has to flee England for Italy in search of the Templars, who may have some answers about her condition. Meanwhile, her estranged husband, Lord Conall Maccon, the Alpha werewolf of the Woolsey pack, tries to cope with his guilt and grief while fending off the attacks of homicidal mechanical ladybugs sent by the vampires.

The book is a delightful mix of steampunk, fantasy, paranormal, and romance genres, with a witty and humorous tone that makes it a fun read. Carriger plays with the conventions of the Victorian era, such as the etiquette, the wardrobe, the social norms, and the language, and adds her own twist to them. The characters are well-developed and engaging, each with their own quirks and personalities. The plot is fast-paced and full of action, adventure, mystery, and intrigue, as well as some steamy scenes between Alexia and Conall.

The book is highly recommended for fans of the series, as well as for those who enjoy a light-hearted and entertaining story with a strong female lead and a dash of the supernatural. Blameless is the third book of the Parasol Protectorate series, following Soulless and Changeless, and preceding Heartless and Timeless
