Conclusion

The ambiguity of the ending is part of what makes The Giver such a powerful and thought-provoking story. It leaves the reader to decide for themselves what happens to Jonas and Gabriel, and to ponder the implications of their journey. The ending also suggests that the future is uncertain, and that there is always hope for change.
