Where all the light tends to go: The vicinity encompassing Cashiers, North Carolina, houses a diverse population, but the reality Jacob McNeely inhabits is harsher than most. His father operates a meticulously organized meth operation, with local law enforcement willing to ignore his illegal activities. Jacob, who dropped out of high school and isolated himself from his peers, has been employed by his father for years, holding onto the belief that his reward will come one day. The sole source of happiness he experiences is reuniting with Maggie, his first love, a girl destined for greater things beyond their tough town.
While Jacob has always accepted the hand he’s been dealt, a fatal error reshapes everything, forcing him to make a decision: continue pleasing his father or depart the mountains with his beloved.
In a place where family loyalty surpasses all else and optimism yields to destiny, Jacob questions if he can gather the courage to transcend the only life he’s ever known. (where all the light tend to go)
