Silver Wolf PDF Novel Review by Alice Borchardt

The Silver Wolf is the first book in the Legends of the Wolf series by Alice Borchardt, the sister of Anne Rice. The novel is set in the dark and decadent Rome of Charlemagne’s time, where a young woman named Regeane has a dangerous secret: she is a shapeshifter who can turn into a silver wolf. Regeane is a pawn in the political schemes of her uncle Gundabald, who wants to marry her off to a barbarian lord named Maeniel for his own gain. But Regeane is drawn to a mysterious black wolf who roams the city at night, and who may be her true mate. Regeane must escape from her uncle’s clutches and find her destiny in a world where humans are the real monsters.

The novel is a blend of fantasy, historical fiction, romance, and horror, with a strong female protagonist who struggles to survive and thrive in a hostile environment. The author creates a vivid and immersive atmosphere, with rich details of the ancient city, its culture, its people, and its secrets. The novel also explores themes of identity, freedom, loyalty, love, and courage, as Regeane faces both human and supernatural enemies and allies. The novel is praised for its original and refreshing take on the werewolf myth, as well as its descriptive and dramatic writing style.
