Read Hungry Ghost by Allison Moon Here

In the realm of paranormal fiction, Allison Moon’s “Hungry Ghost” stands out as a compelling narrative that intertwines the struggles of identity with the supernatural. The novel, which is the second installment in the “Tales of the Pack” series, follows the journey of Lexie Clarion, a college freshman who grapples with her inner beast every full moon.

Lexie’s life is far from ordinary. Instead of succumbing to the routine of academic papers and social gatherings, she battles a ferocious creature within her, all while dealing with the emotional turmoil of her relationship with her alpha ex-girlfriend. The discovery of a fellow student’s eviscerated body signals the return of the violent full-blood Rare wolves, thrusting Lexie and her pack into a fight for survival without any proof, plan, or allies.

Moon’s narrative is praised for its authentic portrayal of LGBTQ culture, delving into less-discussed topics such as sex work, BDSM, and the complexities surrounding transgender issues. The inclusion of a well-crafted transgender character adds depth to the story, reflecting Moon’s commitment to diversity and representation.

The novel’s strength lies in its exploration of themes beyond the paranormal. It challenges the binary paradigm, offering a nuanced perspective on gender and identity. Moon’s writing is celebrated for its ability to resonate with readers on a personal level, providing a space for self-reflection and exploration of one’s own identity.

Critics have noted that while the sequel may not be as lighthearted as its predecessor, with fewer sex scenes and more sexual angst, it remains an enjoyable read. Moon’s storytelling prowess is evident in her ability to weave complex characters and themes into a narrative that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

In conclusion, “Hungry Ghost” by Allison Moon is a novel that transcends the boundaries of its genre. It is a story of self-discovery, acceptance, and the fight against the darkness within and without. With its rich portrayal of queer experiences and its thrilling supernatural elements, the book is a must-read for fans of LGBTQ fiction and paranormal adventures alike.
