Nightshade PDF Novel Review by Andrea Cremer

Nightshade is the first book in a paranormal romance series by Andrea Cremer, featuring shape-shifting wolves, ancient secrets, and forbidden love. The main character is Calla Tor, the alpha female of the Nightshade pack, who is destined to marry Ren Laroche, the alpha male of the Bane pack. Together, they are supposed to serve the Keepers, mysterious masters who guard sacred sites and wield dark magic. However, Calla’s life changes when she saves a human boy named Shay from a bear attack, and feels a strong attraction to him. Shay also has a connection to the Keepers, and he reveals secrets that make Calla question everything she knows about her world and her fate. Calla must choose between following her heart or fulfilling her duty, but either way, she risks losing everything.

The reviewer of the book, Introverted Reader, has mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the reviewer enjoys the fast-paced plot, the rich mythology, and the complex characters. On the other hand, the reviewer is tired of the clichéd love triangle, the frustrating cliffhanger, and the inconsistent personality of Calla. The reviewer likes Calla as a protagonist, but does not believe that she is a convincing leader. The reviewer also criticizes the lack of development of the secondary characters, the unrealistic dialogue, and the excessive descriptions. The reviewer gives the book three stars out of five, and says that it is a “finely-wrought compelling tale of romance and treachery” , but also a “guilty pleasure” that is not for everyone.
