 How to change a tire

How to change a tire. Find a safe location. Pull over to the side of the road in a safe location, away from traffic. Turn on your hazard lights and apply the parking brake.

Set up wheel chocks.

Set up wheel chocks. Place wheel chocks in front of and behind the tires diagonally opposite the flat tire. This will help prevent the car from rolling while you are changing the tire.

Loosen the lug nuts.

Loosen the lug nuts. Use a lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire. You don’t need to remove them completely yet.

Place the jack under the car.

Place the jack under the car. Consult your car’s owner’s manual to find the correct jacking point. Place the jack under the car at the jacking point and raise the car until the flat tire is a few inches off the ground.

Remove the lug nuts and take off the flat tire. Remove the lug nuts and carefully take off the flat tire. Put on the spare tire. Put the spare tire on the car and hand-tighten the lug nuts. Lower the car. Lower the car until the spare tire is touching the ground. Tighten the lug nuts. Use the lug wrench to tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern. Remove the jack. Remove the jack and put away your tools. Dispose of the flat tire properly. You can take the flat tire to a tire shop or recycling center.

Conclusion

Wear gloves to protect your hands from the lug nuts. Be careful not to get under the car while it is still jacked up. Make sure the car is in park or neutral before you start changing the tire. If you are changing the tire on the side of the road, be sure to put on your hazard lights and have someone help you if possible.
