Honey Girl
With her newly completed PhD in astronomy in hand, twenty-eight-year-old Grace Porter goes on a girls’ trip to Vegas to celebrate. She’s a straight A, work-through-the-summer certified high achiever. I had seen this book trendy for a minute and knew I had to read it. Grace Porter is to me filled with the disease of perfection. She has made a plan and is prepared no matter to stick with it. A person very difficult for Grace Porter to find. The expectations Grace perceives are being thrust upon her by the Colonel. By her own perfectionism are breaking her. She has people who love her. A found family of beloved friends. A voice in the night. Grace must find a way to be who she really is.

I don’t think that I have ever read a book that has made me feel so seen. This book encompasses all of the things that plague queer black women. The systematic issues in the corporate America, pushing yourself to the point of breaking, & a sense of confusion after completing higher education are so real and major selling point in this book.
